Morocco For First-Timers

Never been to Morocco before? Considering going there? Here are some tips!

In the second part of our interview with Singaporean entrepreneur Aida Azlin, she shares some tips for those who would love to visit Morocco for the first time.

  1. Modest Clothing

Morocco is an Islamic country, so if you’re a woman, try not to wear clothes that are too revealing. A simple pair of pants and a t-shirt will do. Nothing too tight, nothing that says “Hey I’m a tourist look at me!”

  1. Money Changing Matters

Moroccan Dirhams are not available in Singapore because you are not allowed to bring the currency out of Morocco. You can either activate your ATM card for international use, withdraw money from the ATM in Morocco OR you can change Singapore dollars to pounds, euro or US and change it for Moroccan Dirhams in Morocco.

  1. Do Your Research!

Before you come, you should know where you’re going. Make sure you have a rough itinerary planned and know how to get there.

  1. Haggling

When you go to the souks or the markets, always try to haggle for the price but don’t be unreasonable because some of these people only make money through tourists.

Here are some of Aida’s 10 recommended places to visit in Morocco (accompanied with photos!)
